Wanna Glimpse?

Just read about this new site on MashableGlimpse is very cool.  For instance if you want Eva Longoria’s look for a good price, you can find out how and where to get the stuff.  I am liking America’s style.

Tricky Issue.

In today’s WSJ’s The Juggle, Sara points to a column that her collegue Carolyn Hymowitz wrote on women and ambition in the workplace.  What an age old issue.  I guess being in PR, I always try to think of how things are perceived on the other end.  We all know that the message doesn’t count if the receiver does not get it as clear as it was intended.  So, in being ambitious at work, a lot of it has to do with how the ambition is perceived.  It’s not always easy.  As recent studies have shown, men are STILL making more money than women, on average.  So in reality, just to make an equal pay, women need to be more “ambitious” just to get what is rightfully deserved.  I think there ways you can be ambitious and work your way up the chain without being overly agressive and I think that is the heart of this issue.  On the flip side, it seems like men don’t have to show any ambition at all, they just move on up because they are men.  Doesn’t always happen, but probably a lot more than you or I think.

So Infuriating.

It’s the 21st Century.  One would think things would have leveled out.  Not so much.

For Consumer PR

There is a great article in today’s Bull Dog Reporter update about pitching “women’s books”.  The article talks about knowing the tone of the reporter you are pitching, not just the subject area.  I mean, that is true in all pitching, but something to think about.  Lots of other good points in here too.

Want to find or be found?

Filed under: Mashable, New Media, YoName — becki325 @ 4:40 pm

Mashable is reporting on YoName – pretty cool.  Basiccally, you can type in a name, email address or user name and find someone, or yourself.  Scary, but kind of cool..

Monday

Good morning all.  Today will be a light blogging day.  First off, I am not feeling too hot, bad cold again and of course a stomach thing mixed in there.  And I just found out a few minutes ago that a very good friend of mine lost her mother this weekend.  A cerebral hemorrhage.   Life is just plain old too short.

Not right.

This is really not right.  I know that there is probably more to the story, but the long term damage this is going to cause is unthinkable.  I just heard it on the Today Show, very disturbing.  Hopefully its another reminder to us all to “think before you speak”.

Froogle anyone?

Filed under: Andy Beal, Froogle, Google — becki325 @ 12:11 pm

Did anyone ever use it anyway?  I never knew what it was.  But, according to Andy Beal’s post from last night, it’s gone.  Oh, well, hopefully I didn’t miss much.

And here it is - officially from Google.  Apparently it was a product search tool.  Whoops.  Well, they are just renaming it anyway, its not going anywhere.
