I love the English language and particulary vocabulary and grammar. Notice I didn’t say I was an expert, but that I love it. This article from CNN was very disturbing (http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/02/09/chat.lingo.ap/index.html). This is just not right. Not right at all. Obviously, this is not the first time we have heard of this happening, but when does it stop folks. Really. Google becoming a verb is one thing, but this is just over the top. Let’s do our part to stop and preserve what little we have left of our language.

PR – Def. A PR Post
Ok, folks, those of us in PR know how excited we get when we see a clip generated by our efforts. How about a hit in a top tier consumer publication (Cigar Afficianado, http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/Home/) that takes almost 8 months to come to fruition? That is exactly how it happened with a recent clip for one of our clients. I was working with the reporter last summer and when I left on leave, I passed it on to my colleague Emily to see through and voila -we FINALLY got the hard copy coverage in house today. And it’s amazing – a FULL PAGE story. This is what good PR is all about folks – collaboration. That is why this piece is so good. So, I am giving a shot out to Emily and to good PR. God, I love my job.
PR, and well, babies….
Ok, so this is not really PR related, but work and children related. I got to this guy’s blog through Mike Rothman’s (www.securityincite.com) newsletter. He appears to be an active security (IT security) blogger with small children. It seems to be a battle so many of us working parents face. Monday…
And it’s Monday. Weekend was nice – no snow to speak of, but it’s definetely coming our way over the next couple of days.
On the PR side, my colleague Joel Richman, who frequently posts here (http://www.prspeak.com/) sent around an article from today’s WSJ about social networking and the rise of various news sites like Digg (http://www.digg.com/). This is some really serious stuff here folks. Media as we know it is changing faster than we (PR people and our clients) can keep up. Thankfully PAN (www.pancommunications.com) is at the forefront. If you haven’t already checked Digg out, you should. There are other sites as well, but this will be a good start if you are just entering the “new world”.
Just think – my son, who is almost 14 weeks old, may not ever know what a newspaper is. Scary stuff – but also, vedry, very exciting. Remember when the Internet first happened? This is what we are facing. Take note.
